free page
A free page is a creator account with no subscription price, open to anyone, used to collect followers and earn from them in private messages or on a separate paid account.
A free page is an account priced at zero. Anyone can join it, nobody is charged at the door, and the money is made elsewhere: inside the private thread, or on a second account that does carry a price. Not to be confused with a free trial, which is a few days of paid-account access on a timer. A free page is permanent and separate: its own profile, its own feed, its own inbox. One is a promotion with an expiry date; the other is a standing piece of the setup that somebody has to staff every day.
What is a free page for?
Collecting people who would not pay to walk in, then selling to them in the inbox.
The funnel has three steps:
- Traffic lands somewhere with no price on the door. The card payment is removed from the first decision, so the drop-off happens later, where you can talk to it.
- The follower becomes reachable. A free subscriber sits in the same DM rails as a paying one and receives the same mass message.
- Revenue arrives per item. PPVs, bundles and tips, plus whatever share of the free list eventually joins the paid account.
The trade is explicit: a free page gives up the predictable monthly subscription line in exchange for a bigger, less committed audience and a much heavier inbox.
Who does a free page actually serve?
Accounts that lose people at the price rather than at the content, and teams staffed to work the result.
| Free page | Paid page | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Free | Monthly fee |
| Who arrives | Anyone curious | People who already decided |
| Revenue shape | Per item, uneven | Floor, plus per item |
| Inbox | Large, mostly non-buyers | Smaller, qualified |
| What it demands | Chatting hours | Content and a reason to renew |
A creator working alone between other commitments is usually worse off on a free page: the hourly return is the worst of any format. A staffed account is the opposite case, because an unanswered list is a follower count and nothing else.
What does a free page cost?
Time, paid before anything is earned. Every free follower can write, and most who write will never buy. That is not a fault in the model, it is the model. The free list is a prospect list, and prospect lists get worked rather than counted.
Two consequences. Your fanbase figure stops being comparable to a paid account’s, so any per-fan metric built on it reads low for structural reasons. And when you write to the list at scale, the hour is a genuine decision: our data shows conversion collapsing between 2am and 6am and peaking in the evening, so a send at 3am and the same send at 9pm are not the same send.
When does a free page fail?
When it stops being a door.
- Nothing behind the door. A page with no paid side is a hobby with an inbox.
- The same posts in both places. If the free feed carries what the paid feed carries, nobody has a reason to cross.
- A price in the first message. An offer in the first message is a pitch to someone who has not yet decided the account is real.
How to run one, feed by feed, is worked through in using a free page.
